JOSIAH WILLIER FACES DUI AND FELONY EVADING ARREST CHARGES IN COURT AFTER HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT
A Crossville man is facing multiple charges in Cumberland County General Sessions Court following a late-night vehicle pursuit on May 30, 2026. According to an affidavit filed by Sergeant Brandon Griffin of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Josiah Willier, represented by attorney Earl Patton, has been charged with felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle and Driving Under the Influence (First Offense).

The Pursuit: At approximately 11:26 PM, Sgt. Griffin observed Willier’s vehicle approach at a high rate of speed on Highway 70 W, crossing the double yellow lines to pass the patrol car.

Fleeing Law Enforcement: Willier traveled at roughly 82 MPH while straddling the center line. When the officer activated emergency lights and sirens, Willier refused to pull over, turning onto Browntown Road.

The Arrest: The vehicle struck a ditch on two separate occasions before finally coming to a stop, prompting a high-risk traffic stop.
Authorities stated that Willier complied with orders to put his hands out the window. Upon contact, officers noted a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech. Willier performed unsatisfactorily on standard field sobriety tests (SFSTs) and was subsequently taken into custody.
Both cases are scheduled on the Cumberland County General Sessions Court docket.
Willier has combined total bond of $12,000.
