JOYRIDING WILLARD NABBED FOR POT, PARAPHERNALIA AND DRIVING ON A REVOKED LICENSE
Early Saturday morning, Cumberland County deputies at the Speedway on Genesis Road observed a car matching the description for which an earlier joyriding BOLO had been issued. A dispatch check determined the driver, 30-year-old Thomas Dorris Willard of Crossville, has a revoked license. A further check confirmed the suspect vehicle was the one for which Willard had been accused of taking for joyriding. Willard was arrested for driving on a revoked license.
Officers contacted the vehicle’s owner, who asked they leave the vehicle at the gas station with the key under the driver’s seat.
Upon opening the door, a strong odor of marijuana was evident, along with a small amount of a green, leafy substance in the driver’s seat. A search of the vehicle netted a plastic bag of marijuana weighing approximately 16.5 grams, and a glass pipe with burnt residue.
Additional charges of manufacture, sale or delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia were lodged against Willard, who was placed under $6,200 bond. He has a court date set for March 18.
