Judge Mike Pemberton ordered yesterday Morgan County will get $113,000 in additional pay for deputies as well as four additional officers for the sheriff’s office. The ruling was made in the case of Morgan County Sheriff Glen Freytag and Morgan County Executive Don Edwards where Freytag was seeking additional manpower and funds for his department. The funds would reportedly come from a tax increase of $11.10 per year to an individual or family with a home appraised at $100,000 or greater. Morgan County has 30 days to appeal the decision.
