JUVENILE IN CUSTODY FOR 2017 DEATH OF McMINN COUNTY TEEN

A joint investigation by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents, the Etowah Police Department and the 10th District Attorney General’s Office has resulted in the arrest of an Etowah teen, who has been charged with the murder of a female teenager last year.

TBI agents assisted investigators with the Etowah Police Department in a missing-person investigation in July of 2017, working to determine the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Kelsey Burnette. Her body was found July 4, 2017, on the side of a roadway on Charles Street in Etowah.

The suspect identified during the investigation was a juvenile at the time of the offense and surrendered to law-enforcement officials. He was charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated rape. He was booked into the McMinn County Jail.
