A joint investigation by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents, the Etowah Police Department and the 10^th District Attorney General’s Office has resulted in the arrest of an Etowah teen, who has been charged with the murder of a female teenager last year.

TBI agents assisted investigators with the Etowah Police Department in a missing-person investigation in July of 2017, working to determine the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Kelsey Burnette. Her body was found July 4, 2017, on the side of a roadway on Charles Street in Etowah.

The suspect identified during the investigation was a juvenile at the time of the offense and surrendered to law-enforcement officials. He was charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated rape. He was booked into the McMinn County Jail.
