KAYAKER DIES ON COLLINS RIVER SUNDAY
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says a kayaker lost his life on the Collins River Sunday. 59-year-old Ernest Lee Wade was traveling on the river with Treyton R. Gritzinger. Both men, who were from McMinnville, were kayaking without wearing personal flotation devices. Officials say that the kayak flipped and Wade began struggling to swim. Because of the recent rainfall, the river’s elevation was two to three feet above normal. The TWRA said that they cannot stress the fact enough that boaters should wear personal flotation devices and should also check water conditions beforehand.
