KENNEDY CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC ASSAULT, SIMPLE POSSESSION
Thursday evening, Roane County deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Skyline View Lane, where the resident’s daughter, 28-year-old Brittany Patricia Kennedy, was causing a disturbance. The mother had legal custody of Kennedy’s three children and Kennedy is restricted to supervised visits only. Kennedy claimed she went to the house to visit with her children and get some food when she got into an argument with her mother. Deputies observed Kennedy’s speech was slurred and she had difficulty forming coherent sentences.
The mother said Kennedy, who was holding one of the children, began cursing, claiming her mother didn’t do enough to help her. When the mother attempted to retrieve the child, Kennedy grabbed her by the hair and pulled out a handful of hair. When her mother finally got the child away from her daughter, Kennedy began breaking items in the home. The mother said she had to forcibly remove her daughter from the home.
Deputies say a fist-sized clump of hair and several broken items in the home support her statement.
Kennedy was arrested for domestic assault. At the Roane County detention center, staff asked if she had any contraband on her. She said she did. Corrections staff found two syringes and two different types of prescription medication – 20mg Methylphenidate Hydrochloride (Schedule II) and Suboxone 8mg/2mg (Schedule III). She was additionally charged with two counts of simple possession.
