A stretch of Highway 70 near his home has officially been named the Kent Calfee Highway in honor of the former State Representative and longtime County Commissioner’s decades of public service.

Surrounded by family, friends, and community members, Calfee and his wife, Marilyn, attended the dedication ceremony this past Friday. State Senator Ken Yager, a longtime friend of Calfee, helped secure the approval for the designation through the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). A sign will mark the approximately one-mile stretch of the highway.

Calfee dedicated more than 20 years to serving as a Roane County Commissioner before serving a four-year term as a Tennessee State Representative. Following his retirement from politics, he has returned his focus to his family and farming operation.
