A Laurel County, Kentucky, jury found a man guilty in the death of his seven-week-old daughter. After three days of testimony, the jury found Gary Nicely guilty of second-degree manslaughter and third-degree criminal abuse. The jury found his wife, Jessica Nicely, innocent on all charges. The couple’s baby died of a head wound in 2016. The infant’s twin sister was also taken to the hospital with injuries. Jessica Nicely testified she left the house for about an hour to an hour and a half and came back to the baby not breathing. Officers originally charged the couple with assault in 2016; those charges were upgraded to murder following the infant’s death.
