KENTUCKY WOMAN STOPPED TWICE BY FAKE POLICE
Kentucky State Police are warning drivers to be aware of individuals posing as law-enforcement officers after a Bell County woman said she was stopped by two separate people impersonating officers within a one-mile stretch of U.S. 25E near Middlesboro on Sunday.
The woman said she was stopped by an unmarked green SUV. A man wearing a red Carhartt jacket and a badge around his neck informed her she was speeding, but declined to ask for her license or registration. He let her go after telling her to slow down.
Less than a mile later, she said she was stopped by a man driving a dark-blue SUV. He approached and asked for her license, but she said she did not see a badge on him and declined, whereupon the man reportedly began yelling at her and striking her window. When she threatened to call state police, the man returned to his vehicle and drove off.
KSP has set up extra patrols in the area. If anyone else has been stopped in this manner, they are asked to give the state police a call at 606-573-3131.
