A local woman is facing a slate of criminal charges today after a single-vehicle crash on Lantana Road led to allegations of impaired driving, evidence tampering, and smuggling illicit drugs into the county jail.

According to affidavits of complaint filed by Trooper Tanner Stockton of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on April 2, 2026. Responding officers arrived at the scene of a crash on Lantana Road to find a vehicle that had exited the roadway while attempting to negotiate a right-hand curve, coming to rest in a ditch.

Upon contacting the driver, identified as Kimberly Renee Norris of Crossville, law enforcement observed signs of impairment and noted the smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Following standardized field sobriety tests, Norris was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Authorities noted that Norris refused to submit to blood testing both before and after being read the state’s Implied Consent law.

The situation escalated during transport and processing at the Cumberland County Justice Center:

• Evidence Tampering: While being transported, Norris allegedly attempted to hide a marijuana roach in the back seat of the patrol vehicle. Trooper Stockton and Deputy Curry later recovered the item from the passenger side where Norris had been seated. Authorities also allege she attempted to destroy a cigarette carton containing drug paraphernalia.

• Contraband in a Penal Institution: Despite denying she was carrying weapons or drugs prior to transport, a subsequent search at the jail revealed a small baggie of methamphetamine concealed.

• Additional Seizures: Corrections officers located a baggie of marijuana in her holding cell during a follow-up search, as well as a cigarette carton containing a blue plastic straw with a white powdery substance.

Norris appeared on the Cumberland County General Sessions Court docket facing eight separate criminal counts, including:

• Driving Under the Influence (First Offense)

• Possession of Methamphetamine (Schedule II)

• Simple Possession of Marijuana (Schedule VI)

• Bringing Contraband into a Penal Facility

• Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia

• Tampering with Evidence

• Violation of Implied Consent Law

• Failure to Maintain Lane (Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic)
