KINGSTON CITY COUNCIL TO VOTE ON 2026–2027 BUDGET AND RATE INCREASES TUESDAY
The Kingston City Council has scheduled a public hearing and special called meeting for Tuesday evening, June 30, to review and vote on the city’s proposed budget for the 2026–2027 fiscal year. The proceedings will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Kingston City Hall.
Residents can expect votes on several key financial measures, including:

Property Tax Rate: The council is expected to maintain the current property tax rate at 82.34 cents per $100 of assessed value, leaving it unchanged from last year.

Water and Sewer Rates: According to City Manager David Bolling, the proposed 2026–2027 Kingston Water and Sewer Department budget includes a 5% rate increase for city customers.

Garbage Collection Fees: Residential trash pickup fees are proposed to rise from $11.00 to $12.50 per month.
Prior to voting on the upcoming fiscal year’s budget, the council will consider final amendments to the current 2025–2026 city and Water and Sewer Fund budget.
