KINGSTON CITY PARK CLOSES FOR EMERGENCY REMOVAL OF HAZARDOUS ELM TREE
The Kingston Parks and Recreation department announced that City Park will be closed on Tuesday as crews prepare for the emergency removal of a large elm tree located near the playground and gazebo.
Following consultations with a local arborist, officials determined that the tree poses an immediate safety hazard to park visitors and must be taken down as quickly as possible. Due to the extensive scale of the operation in the playground area, the entire park will be closed to the public during the work.
While tree removal was originally scheduled to begin on Monday, an emergency with the contracted tree company has pushed the operation to Tuesday, October 27.
Park officials issued an apology for the short notice, emphasizing that public safety necessitates immediate action.
