KINGSTON COUNCIL MEETING QUIET AFTER LAST WEEK’S ANNEXATION CROWD
The Kingston City Council held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening at City Hall, drawing only a small handful of attendees in stark contrast to the nearly 75 people who packed last week’s work session focused on potential property annexation along Lawnville Road.
While no annexation items appeared on this week’s agenda for a vote—including a specific property owner’s earlier request to be annexed—council members emphasized the need for significantly more information and broader public input from anyone who could be affected before moving forward.
Beyond that topic, the meeting was light on major business: the council approved a few minor budget amendments, adopted updated building and residential codes, and made appointments to the Historic Zoning Commission and the Library Board. Acting in their additional roles as the Beer Board and Water Board, members had no new or old business to address in those capacities, allowing all three meetings to adjourn quickly around 6:30 p.m.
A replay of Tuesday’s full council meeting will air on the local channel next Monday evening after 7:00 p.m. as part of the regular lineup of past city council meetings.
