KINGSTON FIRST RESPONDERS BUSY WITH MULTIPLE VEHICLE CRASHES

The Kingston Police and Fire Departments responded to multiple vehicle crashes in the city over the past two weeks. Last Thursday just before 11 a.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Swan Pond Road and Highway 70. Joyce Brewley, 90, of Kingston, was traveling westbound when she struck a black Mercedes that had pulled out in front of her. The Mercedes was driven by Wanda E. Plemmons, 83, of Kingston, with passenger Wilma Frasco, 85, also of Kingston. All three individuals were transported to area hospitals—Plemmons and Frasco to Roane Medical Center, and Brewley to Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center—for treatment.

The following day, last Friday just after noon, another two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of Bluff Road and Highway 70. Regina West, 55, of Wartburg, was driving a 2015 Toyota eastbound on Highway 70 when a red 2012 Volkswagen, driven by Sharon Burger, 77, of Harriman, pulled out from Ferguson Lane in front of her. West attempted to avoid the collision. Both Sharon Burger and her husband, Michael Burger, who was a passenger, were transported by ambulance to Roane Medical Center, while West was not injured and did not require transport.

Additionally, a two-vehicle accident occurred last Tuesday on Gallaher Road in front of Weigel’s and the Ken Jo Market. Owen Carter, 18, of Kingston, was turning left out of the Weigel’s parking lot into the southbound lanes of Gallaher Road when his vehicle collided with one driven by Veronica Justice, 32, of Rockwood, who had stopped nearby while waiting to turn. One vehicle ended up in the Ken Jo Market parking lot, and both drivers were transported to the hospital.
