KINGSTON PREPARES FOR MASSIVE FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION WITH STRICT SAFETY GUIDELINES IN PLACE
As massive crowds prepare to descend on Kingston for the annual “Smokin’ the Water” Independence Day celebration this Saturday, city officials and emergency services are implementation strict safety measures to ensure a secure holiday weekend.
With high attendance anticipated, Kingston Fire Chief Willie Gordon has announced a total ban on all small and portable grills—including propane units—within city park grounds and along the park perimeter during the festivities.
In addition to the grilling ban, officials are issuing a strong warning regarding weather conditions. Anyone bringing pop-up canopies or tents must secure each leg with a minimum of 75 pounds of weight to counteract potential strong winds forecasted for Saturday afternoon.
The Kingston Fire Department is deploying extensive on-site resources to handle any medical or safety emergencies throughout the event:
-
Medical Stations: Certified first responders will be stationed at both the Gravel Pit area and the Highway 58 Landing.
-
Water Rescue: A dedicated rescue boat will patrol the water to assist boaters and monitor lake activities.
-
Park Rules: Alcohol remains strictly prohibited on all city-owned property, and attendees are heavily encouraged to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
The Kingston Fire Department wishes everyone a safe, fun, and memorable Fourth of July celebration.
