LAKE TANSI STABBING SUSPECT APPEARS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY COURT
A Lake Tansi woman appeared in Cumberland County General Sessions court yesterday after reportedly stabbing a man this past weekend. Court documents states 55-year-old Gary A. Phillips was allegedly stabbed by 55-year-old Susan Denise Stokes in the chest with a steak knife at a home on Apache Trail in Lake Tansi. Stokes was charged with aggravated domestic assault. In court yesterday, the judge appointed a public defender for Stokes and kept her bond at $10,000.
This is not Stokes first dealing this year with authorities
Stokes had a separate encounter with law enforcement nearly 5 months ago. The incident started when police tried to pull Stokes over for a headlight being out. When the officer told Stokes she had an outstanding warrant, she allegedly sped off and traveled at speeds of over 100 miles per hour. She got to a home on Davidson Court and ran inside the home, barricading herself inside the dwelling. A SWAT team responded to the scene after Stokes reportedly claimed to have access to a firearm. The standoff ended when a flash bomb was sent inside the house. Stokes appeared at a back door, armed with a large kitchen knife. She was taken into custody without further incident.
