A local man faces serious charges following an incident at a Cumberland County Sonic restaurant on September 20, 2026. Landon S. Garrett was taken into custody by Patrolman Jacob Ogle after police responded to reports of a possible aggravated assault at the drive-in. According to the affidavit of complaint, the confrontation began when Garrett encountered an associate of his ex-girlfriend at the restaurant.

Investigators stated that an argument broke out between the parties, prompting the father of one of the individuals to step in to halt the verbal dispute. Police reports indicate that Garrett then walked back to his vehicle, retrieved a Taurus G2 handgun, and approached the victims’ vehicle again. While Garrett claimed he did not draw the weapon, a witness reported fearing for her life and believed Garrett was about to shoot.

Officers initiated a traffic stop on Garrett’s blue vehicle as he attempted to leave the scene. Upon contact, law enforcement noted signs of intoxication, including a strong odor of alcohol and bloodshot, watery eyes. Officers seized the Taurus G2 as evidence and transported Garrett to the Cumberland County Jail.
