LAST NIGHT’S FIRE AT WOODMERE MALL COULD BE ARSON

Monday evening, crews responded to a building fire at Woodmere Mall in the Blush Salon. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke filling the Blush Salon and the adjacent Dollar General Store. Occupants were quickly evacuated and fire crews made an aggressive interior attack to stop the fire spread. Crossville Fire Crews, along with Cumberland County Fire personnel were successful in stopping the fire from spreading to the entire complex. Crossville Fire Chief Chris South would like to thank Cumberland County Fire Department, Crossville Police, Cumberland County EMA, Cumberland County EMS, and Volunteer Electric for assisting during the event.

The fire began in the crawlspace of the building underneath the salon and was determined by Crossville Fire Investigators to be arson. The Dollar General Store and Blush Salon sustained fire, smoke, and water damage and are closed for repairs.

The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information on the fire please contact Deputy Chief Terry Potter or Fire Chief Chris South at 931-484-6144.
