LIVINGSTON ACADEMY PUT ON LOCKDOWN, BB GUN IN STUDENTS CAR

Livingston Academy has resumed normal operations after reports of a firearm on campus resulting in a lockdown this morning.

Director of Schools Donnie Holman said all students that did not get dropped off at school can now return without being counted late. Holman said absences will also be excused for the school day.

Livingston Academy was placed on a lockdown this morning after students reported an airsoft gun similar to a BB gun inside a student’s vehicle. Holman said two students then notified their bus driver of the firearm.

Holman said the bus driver then reported the situation to school administration resulting in the lockdown. Holman said the situation has been deemed safe with all students and staff accounted for.

Livingston Police Chief Greg Etheredge said about eight officers responded and secured the perimeter. Etheredge said authorities located the suspect student inside the school.

Holman said the student who possessed the firearm is currently with proper authorities handling the situation.
