As we announced yesterday, Cumberland County and Fentress County are now officially connected by a newly opened bridge on US 127 over Clear Creek. Yesterday, Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster joined regional and state leaders for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the milestone.

Highlighting the highway’s vital role for daily commuters, families, and local businesses, Mayor Foster recognized the multi-year collaborative effort required to bring the infrastructure project to fruition. Special praise was given to former Fentress County Executive Jimmy Johnson for his years of advocacy on the corridor.

State and federal officials—including Governor Bill Lee, Speaker Cameron Sexton, local legislators, and congressional members—along with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Jones Brothers construction, were acknowledged for their contributions. While leaders noted that additional improvements are still planned for the US 127 corridor, the completion of the Clear Creek bridge marks a significant victory for local connectivity.
