LOCAL CITY, COUNTY, AND STATE OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED FOR JUNETEENTH

All Crossville City offices, as well as Cumberland County Offices and Tennessee state government buildings, will be closed for the Juneteenth federal holiday. Also closed will be the Cumberland County Animal Shelter, The Art Circle Public Library, and local convenience centers.
A summary of Juneteenth:
Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom under the Emancipation Proclamation, two and a half years after it was issued. Known as the “Second Independence Day,” it symbolizes the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday gained federal recognition in 2021, celebrated with events like parades, educational programs, and community gatherings that honor African American history and culture.
