LOUDON COUNTY GRAND JURY INDICTS WOMAN FOR MURDER OF HER 3-YEAR-OLD SON

A Loudon County grand jury today indicted a woman for the murder of her 3-year-old son. Court documents say 38-year-old Melani Sue Brown faces premeditated first-degree murder, felony murder by aggravated child abuse, felony murder by aggravated child neglect, aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect. Investigators said three-year-old King Brown died after being found with multiple stab wounds March 11 at McGhee Square Apartments in Lenoir City. Melani Brown was found later with self-inflicted stab wounds to her upper torso and neck area. She was taken to UT Medical Center and as of today, she was in serious condition. Authorities say there were several DCS referrals over the past three years regarding Melani Brown.
