LOUDON COUNTY MAN SENTENCED FOR MURDER

A Loudon County man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for intentionally setting fire to a house on Vonore Road that killed another man. Court officials say 39-year-old Timothy Michael Patterson of Loudon was convicted of second degree murder in the death of Richard Todd Dirksen in March 2016. Police say Patterson stole several items in the home before setting it on fire. Patterson then stole Dirksen’s truck and torched it just across the McMinn/Monroe county line to try to cover up his involvement. The 45-year sentence will be served stacked with a four-year sentence for another case, for a total of 49 years.
