LOUDON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO HOLD CITIZENS ACADEMY

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the 25th Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy.

Loudon County Sheriff Jimmy Davis announced the Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the upcoming Sheriff’s Citizens Law Enforcement Academy, which begins Thursday, March 21, 2024.

Anyone interested in applying for a spot in the class can access the application on the Sheriff’s Office website at www.lcsotn.com. From the home page, click on the “Community” tab, then “Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy Application” The application is a printable PDF.

The deadline for applying for the upcoming class is Friday, March 1, 2024. Class size is limited. Applications may be dropped off in person at the Loudon County Justice Center or emailed to Amy Langley at [email protected].

If you attended the previous class that was canceled due to COVID-19, please indicate that on your application.

Classes meet every Thursday night from 6 until 9 p.m., beginning March 21, 2024, and culminating on May 16, 2024, with graduation.

Topics covered include criminal investigations, patrol operations, K-9 operations and capabilities, firearms and emergency vehicle operations, corrections division (jail) overview, Tennessee state law and judicial system, and narcotics/drug overview.

Students will also tour the Emergency Communications Center, and the Loudon County Detention Center and spend one Saturday at the Blount County Firearms Range and Driving Track.

The purpose of Citizen’s Academy is to allow citizens to familiarize themselves with the inner workings of the Sheriff’s Office, and to get a better understanding of the duties of a deputy. Many of the classes are hands-on, and students will be allowed to participate in patrol ride-alongs.
