Knox County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Knoxville man Saturday night after he reportedly attacked two people with a machete.

According to the deputies’ report, 27-year-old Cody Jermaine Scates cut one victim’s hand in the assault and chased a second victim down the street with the machete. Scates was taken into custody after witnesses told police they saw the suspect enter an apartment. A search of the apartment turned up the weapon hidden behind a TV stand in a bedroom.

Scates was charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault; he has another pending charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Bond was set at $30,000. A preliminary hearing has been set for April 11.
