While on patrol Monday, a Cumberland County deputy came upon a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway at the intersection of East Keyes and Hebbertsburg Road. A search revealed a jacket with a loaded handgun in the pocket reportedly belonging to a passenger, 54-year-old Douglas Edward Mackie of Crab Orchard. The report states Mackie said the weapon belonged to a family member. A check revealed he was a convicted felon. He was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.
