MADISONVILLE FIRE CLAIMS LIFE OF 3-YEAR-OLD CHILD

A three-year-old child was killed in yesterday morning’s trailer fire on Belcher Road in Madisonville.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the fire, which crews responded to just before 9:30, left the little boy trapped. By the time firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed.

Three other occupants were taken to the hospital – two by ambulance and one by a private vehicle. All three have been released.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.

At the request of the family, the child’s name is not being released.

Responding agencies included Madisonville City Fire Department, Mount Vernon Fire, Hopewell Fire, Gudger Fire, Tri Community Fire, Englewood Rural Fire and Etowah Rural Fire departments, along with the McMinn County Hazmat Team, Monroe County Ambulance and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.
