MAJOR ROAD RESURFACING PROJECTS UNDERWAY IN CROSSVILLE AND ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has a resurfacing and bridge deck repair project underway in Cumberland County. The route is Highway 127 from south of Elmore Road to just north of I-40 and includes bridge deck repair on the bridge over I-40. This route is slightly less than 3 miles in length. Excluding the Memorial Day lane closure restrictions, the work that will be happening in the next week is the contractor will be retrofitting sidewalk access ramps at the intersection of Elmore Road and Livingston Road and at the intersection of Elmore Road and Highway 127. Temporary nighttime lane closures will be required for this activity. Motorists should be alert as conditions are subject to change each night. The completion date for the $3 million dollar project is on or before October 31, 2020.

TDOT also has a resurfacing and bridge deck repair project underway in Cumberland County that includes resurfacing a 6.5-mile section of I-40 from the Peavine Road Exit (exit 322) to near Crab Orchard (exit 329). Bridge repair work has been completed on this project, so currently resurfacing operations are taking place. Excluding the Memorial Day lane closure restrictions, resurfacing operations will be underway and will be limited to nighttime work between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. The eastbound and westbound lanes will be reduced to one lane with nighttime lane closures. Resurfacing activities will follow the cold planing. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 mph during working hours. Troopers will assist with traffic control. The completion date for the resurfacing portion of the project is on or before October 31, 2020.
