MALE ATTEMPTS TO DRIVE AWAY FROM COPS AFTER FOUND UNRESPONSIVE AT LIBERTY MARKET

Cumberland County, TN- At around 1:20 AM Wednesday morning officers observed a black car partially blocking the entrance of the Liberty Market, which was closed at the time. The vehicle appeared to be running with lights on and fogged-up windows. They noticed the car was occupied by a male in the driver’s seat who did not appear to be responsive. After several attempts, the driver identified as 39-year-old Jeremy Godwin rolled down the window. Godwin appeared to be under the influence and confused and did not know where he was or where he was headed. While officers were asking him questions, he became irate. When asked to step out of the vehicle, Godwin refused. Officers opened the door and Godwin pulled away and attempted to drive off. However, officers were able to open the driver’s door again and use a taser to get him to comply. Officers observed two glass pipes and a small plastic baggie with off-white residue sitting in the vehicle.

Jeremy Godwin was charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
