MAN ALLEGES REAL ESTATE FRAUD AT ROANE COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING
The Roane County Commission met in regular session at the courthouse in Kingston last night. During the delegations’ hearing, Rocky Houston addressed the commission, continuing his claims of property takeover in South Roane County by judges and lawyers, alleging real estate fraud.
Houston, who spoke on the same issue last month, announced he is suing the county commissioners, county executive, and county attorney. He noted that Chairman Shannon Hester should recuse himself, as Hester had purchased some of Houston’s former property years ago.
Houston demanded a response to his lawsuit against the county executive, county attorney, and commission members. Exceeding his three-minute time limit, Chairman Hester ended the discussion, and deputies approached Houston to encourage him to sit down. Houston vowed to return at the May meeting, seeking answers, but Hester stated that, as a litigation matter, the commission could not respond.
In other business, the commission voted to rename County Executive Wade Creswell’s title to County Mayor, following a request from Representative Monty Fritz and State Senator Ken Yager. This aligns with most Tennessee counties now designating their top leader as mayor. The change was approved.
