MAN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY SHOPLIFTING NEAR $600 IN FISHING GEAR

A Bledsoe County man is facing charges in Cumberland County after an incident at Walmart in Crossville. According to the arrest report, 47-year-old Thomas Clarence Britt, Jr. went to the sporting goods area of the store and allegedly cut off five fishing reels from the locking peg hooks. Officers say Britt then took the reels to another aisle and cut them from the packages and concealed the reels on him. Britt also allegedly took four fishing rods, fishing line and a flare gun. Police say Britt allegedly tried to leave out the general merchandise exit with the items, valued at nearly $600, without paying. Britt was arrested and charged with shoplifting and criminal trespassing as he was already banned from being in Walmart from a 2014 incident.
