MAN ARRESTED AFTER CRASHING TRUCK WHILE FLEEING ROCKWOOD POLICE

A 24-year-old man, Jaryd Boeckermann, is in custody today following a crash in Rockwood, Tennessee, last night around 10:00 p.m. According to Rockwood Police Department officials, Boeckermann was fleeing from officers when he crossed Front Street and rammed his pickup truck into the concrete barricades at the railroad crossing on West Dunn Street, just off Front Street and directly behind Evans Mortuary.

After the collision, he attempted to flee on foot but was quickly captured nearby. He was transported to the hospital by Roane County EMS under emergency traffic conditions before being booked into the Roane County Jail. The crash caused heavy damage to the pickup truck, as shown in available video footage.

Multiple emergency responders were on scene, including two ambulances, Rockwood Fire Department personnel, Rockwood Police vehicles, and a Tennessee Highway Patrol unit. Authorities requested that the railroad be shut down temporarily because the truck was close to the tracks, allowing time for the ongoing investigation and vehicle removal.

Boeckermann now faces 10 charges and remains held at the Roane County Jail.
