MAN ARRESTED FOR LEAVING CRASH SCENE AND POSSESSING STOLEN PRESCRIPTION PILLS

On February 26, 2026, Deputy Zachary Early of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch at 104 Golliher Road in Rockwood, Tennessee. The abandoned gray 2012 Nissan was registered to Brian Lee Lance, age 49, of Golliher Road. Deputy Early, accompanied by Trooper Barker, went to Lance’s residence to investigate.

Lance admitted involvement in the accident that left the vehicle in the ditch. The deputy observed drug paraphernalia on the front porch. After Lance consented to the deputy entering the home, he admitted to having marijuana and retrieved it from the bedroom. Inside the bedroom, additional paraphernalia and a Narcan kit were visible. While Lance opened a dresser drawer, the deputy saw a glass jar containing pills. Lance then consented to a search of the room.

In a backpack on the bed, the deputy found two pill bottles, filled on February 25, 2026, containing a total of 177 white pills marked “5/5/5” (consistent with 15 mg buspirone hydrochloride tablets, a prescription anxiety medication). After being read his rights, Lance admitted to purchasing the pills for about one dollar each without a prescription. The pills were seized as evidence.

Lance was arrested on view at approximately 4:13 a.m. for leaving the scene of an accident and possession of a legend drug without a prescription. He was charged with bonds set at $2,000 and $3,000 respectively, with a court date of April 6, 2026.

The charges and allegations referenced in this report are merely accusations of criminal conduct, not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.
