MAN ARRESTED FOR METHAMPHETAMINE POSSESSION AFTER LATE-NIGHT DISTURBANCE IN ROCKWOOD
A 32-year-old Harriman man was arrested late last month after police responding to a suspicious person call discovered drugs in his possession.
According to a Rockwood Police Department preliminary investigative report, Officer Jason A. Lee was dispatched to a home on West Harvey Street on the evening of September 29, 2026, following a 911 call reporting someone shining a flashlight, knocking on doors, and attempting to enter the residence.
When officers arrived at the scene around 21:44 hours, they encountered Jack Lee Chesser III, dressed in black and carrying a backpack and a flashlight. Chesser told police he was searching the yard’s trash for items to take and claimed he thought the house was abandoned because of a condemned sign on the door.
During a consensual search, officers found methamphetamine inside Chesser’s wallet, along with two cut straws, plastic baggies containing residue, and a folded dollar bill holding a powdered substance. Authorities reported seizing approximately 0.77 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 1.07 grams of powdered methamphetamine.
Chesser was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Roane County Jail. He faces charges related to the manufacturing, delivery, and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
