MAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING CUSTOM FIRE PIT

On August 18, 2025, at approximately 10:24 AM, Officer Jacob Ogle of the Crossville Police Department responded to a theft report at Mountain Barn Builders, located on North Main Street in Crossville. The complainant reported that a custom-made fire pit valued at $350 was stolen from the business premises around 1:55 AM on August 16, 2025.

Surveillance footage showed a male suspect, later identified as Sean Christopher Vanleuven, wearing camouflage shorts and a black shirt, emptying the fire pit and removing it from the property. Officer McNeal, familiar with Vanleuven from prior interactions, assisted Ogle in attempting to contact him at his tent on August 18 but was unsuccessful.

On August 19, 2025, at around 7:45 AM, Ogle returned to Vanleuven’s tent, made contact, and read him his Miranda rights. Vanleuven admitted to the theft and revealed the fire pit’s location. The stolen item was recovered and returned to Mountain Barn Builders.

Vanleuven was arrested for theft of merchandise and transported to Cumberland County Jail by Sgt. Seay.
