Law Enforcement from the Sheriff’s Department including detectives, along with TBI officials, were sent to a residence on Laurel Bluff Road south of Kingston last night just after 10 pm where authorities say a man shot his father inside the home there.

According to Roane County Sheriffs Dept. Chief Deputy Tim Phillips, The investigation is ongoing and the man identified as 40-year-old Brent Houston Humphreys will be charged with 1st-degree murder in the case after shooting his father Hoyal Humphreys at the home last night located at 1056 Laurell Bluff Road.

Phillips stated the body was taken to The Knoxville Forensics Center for an autopsy, which is standard procedure in cases like this. Brent Humphreys remains in jail this afternoon on no bond.
