MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGES FROM MULTIPLE STATES

On Thursday last week, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) Agents were conducting surveillance on Robert Aguilar Garay III, who had active outstanding warrants for Man/Del/Sell/Possession of Methamphetamine.

Sergeant Dustin Jackson was informed by TBI Agents they had observed Garay driving a black sun-damaged Nissan Altima traveling outbound on Highway 70 North toward Monterey. Later, Agents spotted Garay had pulled into his driveway in the Cumberland Cove Community.

Agents observed Garay walking in and out of the residence and detached garage, and later leaving the residence in his father’s maroon F150 pickup, and traveling inbound on Highway 70 North toward Crossville.

Garay would be observed passing vehicles in a no-passing zone and traveling at a high rate of speed.

Garay would later be seen abruptly pulling into the driveway of a home on Highway 70 North where he was approached and immediately became defensive, accusing law enforcement of harassing him.

He became confrontational and was asked to exit his vehicle. Due to his outstanding warrant, he was placed under arrest in double-locked handcuffs. A zipper case located in the center console of his vehicle contained a glass bulb pipe and a cut pink straw.

K-9 units went over the vehicle and found a plastic freezer bag containing 19.5 grams of meth and paraphernalia, an amount often used by those intending to sell. Several hundred dollars were also seized under suspicion of being ill-gotten gains.

A search warrant performed on Garay’s home and vehicles found: Approximately 2 ounces [56 grams] of suspected methamphetamine; 1 pound of a green leafy material suspected to be marijuana; a loaded 9mm magazine that belonged to a Taurus pistol registered to Garay’s father; a loaded Taurus G2c 9mm pistol; a loaded Smith and Wesson AR platform rifle, with an optic attached, and a 30-round magazine; a glass case containing a clear bag with suspected methamphetamine that weighed approximately ½ ounce [13.5 grams.]; a suspected drug ledger, which is used by drug dealers to document narcotic transactions; and empty bags with leafy residue, alongside a jar
containing leafy residue with a bag displaying CBD.

Garay is a convicted felon out of different states, with charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, narcotics violations, and robbery.

Due to the two outstanding warrants for Garay issued by Sgt. Dustin Jackson, Garay was placed placed with a $900,000 bond. However, after collecting the listed items, Garay was charged with another charge of Man/Del/Sell/Possession of Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, which added a $925,000 bond.
