MAN ASSAULTS FATHER, ARRESTED WITH METH

On Friday last week, Crossville police responded to Kellet Drive for a physical domestic incident that had taken place.
Upon arrival, officers Sadula and Charlock made contact with the caller who stated that he and his son had gotten into a verbal altercation that turned physical. The caller said that he and his son, identified as Steven McBroom, were arguing over borrowing a vehicle which escalated into pushing and escalated even further to a gun threat.
The caller said that he was in fear, and believed his son had consumed illegal narcotics. He said he, himself, had been drinking and didn’t want to fight his son.
The caller said that when he retrieved the pistol, his son saw it, grabbed the gun, and used it to hit his father in the head, then left in the vehicle that was at the center of the argument.
A quick check confirmed the caller’s injuries.
While the officers were at Kellet Drive, Sergeant Mangas and Officer Jeremy Beard made contact with McBroom in a parking lot next to Volunteer Hearth and Homes. McBroom admitted to pushing his father, and that when his father retrieved the pistol, McBroom tried to grab the pistol from his father, and struck him in the head with it.
McBroom was placed into custody, and a search was performed, however, nothing was located during the initial search. After being placed into the back of the patrol vehicle, McBroom admitted to having a bit of dope in his left sock.
Within his left sock was a plastic sandwich bag that contained 1.33 g of crystal meth. McBroom uttered that the meth was how he made his money.
He was taken to Cumberland County Justice Center where he was booked and charged with domestic assault and felony possession of methamphetamine.
