MAN ASSAULTS GAS STATION WORKER WHO WOULDN’T SELL HIM ALCOHOL
Last night at approximately 10:52 P.M., Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to The Lucky Stop gas station on Plateau Road for a reported assault.
Deputy Stephanie Pencka made contact with the victim at the Lucky Stop who described the man who assaulted him, later identified as Edwardo Avila.
The victim said the suspect entered the store and attempted to purchase alcohol but did not have a valid ID. After refusing to sell the alcohol, the suspect left the store and tried driving away with the gas pump still in the vehicle. The victim confronted the suspect and took a picture of the vehicle’s license plate, and that was when Avila exited his Bronco and pushed the victim to the ground. While assaulting the victim, Avila the victim’s phone and took the victim’s keys from him, leaving the victim unable to leave the store.
The victim says Avila held his keys in his hands while kicking the victim in the abdomen and the head. A witness intervened, which is when Avila got back into the vehicle and headed east on I-40.
Avila was transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, booked into the Cumberland County Jail, and served his
warrant.
