MAN CHARGED WITH IMPERSONATING HIS FEMALE DOCTOR IN CHATTANOOGA

A Chattanooga man faces several charges after police say he tried to impersonate his female doctor while phoning in a new prescription. But the pharmacy technician wasn’t fooled.

Chattanooga Police arrested 31-year-old Rodney O. Bean on Monday.

The incident he’s charged for happened on June 21st at the Publix supermarket on North Market Street in Chattanooga.

A technician told police that earlier in the day, she had received a call from a doctor advising she needed to change a prescription for Alprazolam for her patient, Bean, because the earlier prescription wasn’t strong enough.

Alprazolam is used to relieve symptoms of things like anxiety and panic attacks. It is in the same class of drugs as Xanax and can be habit forming.

The technician knew the doctor’s voice and told officers her voice inflection was ‘deeper than what the person on the phone was using,’ indicating Bean was trying to approximate his doctor’s voice in falsetto.

The technician contacted the actual doctor, who confirmed to her that she didn’t phone in a new prescription for Bean.

The affidavit says Bean had been arrested a week before that incident for calling in a false prescription at the Walgreens up the street on North Market.

Bean is charged with forgery, two counts of impersonation of a licensed professional, prescription drug fraud, and felony obtaining controlled substance by fraud.
