MAN CHASES THIEF AFTER HE SPOTS BURGLARY IN PROGRESS

Cumberland County deputies were dispatched to a residence off Highway 70 West on Friday night for a burglary in progress.

When making contact with a woman who rents the residence, she told deputies that she and her husband were trying to sleep when they heard a noise outside. When they went to look, they discovered a white male believed to be in his 40s exiting one of the campers behind the residence. The woman’s husband began to chase the subject as he took off towards the woods, but was unable to keep up.

The woman had seen the thief at a store in the area before but did not know his name. When investigating, it was observed that he had been in two campers piling up items to take. A vehicle also had items sitting next to it believed to be piled up to take as well.

The only item that the man seemed to of gotten away with were some LED lights. However, the residents were going to make a list of anything else they discovered stolen.
