MAN DEAD AFTER BEING PULLED FROM CAR IN TENNESSEE RIVER
From the Knoxville Police Department:
A man has died after driving into the Tennessee River on Sunday afternoon.
At around 1:45 p.m. today, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to Governor Ned McWherter Park concerning a vehicle that was in the river near the park boat ramp.
Knoxville Fire Department and Knox Rescue personnel responded to the scene and pulled one person out of the vehicle. The victim, an adult man, was transported to the UT Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
A witness reported seeing the vehicle parked in the Ned WcWherter lot about an hour before the initial call.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. At this time, foul play is not suspected.
