A 61-year-old man has died after he reportedly drove through barricades and off of Pellissippi Parkway in Alcoa Wednesday morning, according to the City of Alcoa.

The city released that Alcoa police and firefighters, AMR Ambulance Service and the Blount County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at the end of Pellissippi Parkway at Old Knoxville Highway just after 9 a.m.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released, pending the notification of his next of kin.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Anyone with information about what led to the crash is asked to contact Lieutenant Stevenson at (865) 712-2310 or [email protected].
