MAN DIES AFTER DRIVING THROUGH CONSTRUCTION BARRICADES ON PELLISSIPPI PARKWAY

A 61-year-old man has died after he reportedly drove through barricades and off of Pellissippi Parkway in Alcoa Wednesday morning, according to the City of Alcoa.

The city released that Alcoa police and firefighters, AMR Ambulance Service and the Blount County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at the end of Pellissippi Parkway at Old Knoxville Highway just after 9 a.m.

Alcoa Police investigators believe that a 2007 Volvo sedan traveling east on Pellissippi Parkway ran through warning barricades and drove past the end of Pellissippi Parkway before landing on old Knoxville Highway.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released, pending the notification of his next of kin.
