Thursday night, Cumberland County deputies en route to assist on a call along Shadberry Drive observed a van hauling a trailer with nonfunctional lights. The van turned onto Shadberry Drive and tried to dodge a deputy’s roadblock vehicle by driving through a ditch.

The driver, 31-year-old Lawrence Mack Parks, was found not to have a valid license. Parks also admitted he’d been drinking.

Deputies arrested Parks for driving on a suspended license; he was issued a verbal warning for the trailer lights and failure to maintain insurance. Parks was placed under $2,500 bond and is due to appear in court June 10.
