Joshua Alan Whalen is set to appear in Cumberland County Circuit Court in a motion/petition hearing on June 2, 2026.

The charges, returned by a grand jury on January 8, 2024, stem from alleged incidents involving a minor victim between February and May 2023. Whalen is accused of repeatedly exploiting a position of trust to engage in unlawful sexual contact with the then 15-year-old victim.

The indictment includes four counts of Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure, thirteen counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure, one count of Attempted Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure, and one count of Tattooing of a Minor under 18.

Whalen is represented by the Public Defender and is currently under a $375,000 surety bond posted by Big Jim’s Bonding Company. The case is being prosecuted by the Office of the District Attorney General.
