The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a man struck by a vehicle and killed on Highway 70 just East of the Patton Lane intersection East of Rockwood.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Highway 70 was shut off to through traffic at the location for the investigation and the transportation of the person identified as Timothy Slaven of Rockwood.

After Dr. Thomas Boduck the medical examiner came to examine the body and released it to be taken to the Roane Medical Center. Reports from a source say that Slaven was transported to the Roane Medical Center earlier Sunday, and could have been walking home to Rockwood when the incident occurred.
