MAN IN CUSTODY, ESCAPES CROSSVILLE HOSPITAL, ARRESTED AGAIN

On Monday, an officer was patrolling when he observed a black electric bike sitting at a residence. Knowing a black bike had been stolen from Dunham’s three days prior, the officer knocked on the door of the residence. Mark Klimczak stated he owned the electric bike and had the paperwork. While Klimczak told the officer he was going to retrieve the paperwork, he jumped out the back window. The officer ran after Klimczak, but he disappeared into the woods.

The officer took the bike and left to write out warrants and returned to the residence in an attempt to find Mr. Klimczak. Officers noticed Klimczak run out of the woods and back into the open window he escaped from earlier. After refusing to open the front door, the officers made their entry where they found Klimczak locked in the bathroom. After forcing entry into the bathroom, officers noticed a chair in the bathroom and the ceiling attic access open.

After officers were finally able to get Klimczak from hiding in the attic, he requested EMS for chest pains. He was taken to Cumberland Medical Center. However, at some point, Klimczak was able to sneak away from the hospital.

Approximately 7 hours later, patrol units were in the area of Cleveland Street and saw Klimczak in some thicket in the neighborhood of the hospital. When trying to make contact, the male ran on foot and hid behind a barn. After a short pursuit, Klimczak fell to the ground and gave himself up.

Mark Klimczak was charged with Theft of Property over $1,000, Vandalism, Evading arrest x2, and Resisting Arrest.
