On Monday, a Cumberland County deputy was on Westel Road in Rockwood when he noticed that a male was exiting the gas station, saw his patrol car, and ran back inside. The deputy went into the store and confronted the male and asked if they can talk outside, to which he agreed.

The subject was identified as 27-year-old Paul Cox who had recent complaints against him for driving recklessly. When the deputy told Mr. Cox about it, he allegedly admitted he had been driving “crazy” the past few days.

The deputy made contact with the store clerk who said Mr. Cox ran into the women’s restroom when the deputy appeared. A clear plastic baggie was found under the sink in the bathroom with .4 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

When the deputy showed him what he had found, Mr. Cox told the deputy that he found the drugs in his car and decided to hide them once he saw police outside.

After he was detained and placed into the patrol unit, he allegedly told the deputy numerous times that his car was stolen and he found the drugs in his car and thought he could sell it to make some money.

Paul Cox was charged with Simple Possession of Sch 2 drug.
