A Rhea County man will serve 16 years in prison at 100 percent following a plea of guilty to multiple counts of aggravated sexual battery of a minor. Court officials say 44-year-old Michael Marmon was originally charged with child rape and aggravated sexual battery but allowed to plea to the lesser charges in a deal made with prosecutors. Marmon will be placed on the violent sex offender registry for the rest of his life. Marmon was already listed as a sex offender and according to the state sex offender registry, he was placed on it after he was charged with sexual battery in 2004.
