MAN WITH LOCAL WARRANT FLEES ON FOOT; GETS TASERED AND ARRESTED

On July 25, 2025, at approximately 7:24 PM, Deputy Shawn Aytes of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office observed Seth David Hummel, a 24-year-old white male, at a house on Grace Hill Drive in Crossville. Deputy Aytes attempted to apprehend Hummel due to an existing local warrant.
Hummel requested to change his clothing and entered his bedroom briefly before fleeing on foot through the front door, heading toward Hwy 127 and onto North school property. Despite warnings from Deputy Aytes that he would be tased if he did not stop, Hummel continued to run.
During the pursuit, six taser shots were fired, two of which struck Hummel, bringing him to the ground after a 5-second burst. Hummel was subsequently taken into custody, charged with evading arrest and served his local warrant. He was transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office jail.
Hummel also faces a violation of probation charge, with court dates set for August 5 and August 18, 2025.
